Question How to convince dealer to lower price

Ok, my dealer told me when I ordered that they were going to add 10,000 dollars to the MSRP because of the demand on the car. But now I'm reading threads where dealers are being so generous, and I'm wondering. Are there any tactics to convince the dealer to lower the price? I think the manager thinks I'm a snot-nose that will throw a fit if his parents don't buy the car, and that's why he set the price so high, hoping to make a couple grand. I feel like me and my parent's are being played :(

Yeah, go and tell him you are paying MSRP or you are not buying. And when he says fine, walk away and go find somewhere else to buy the car. Dealers will only get away with mark-ups if people are dump enough to buy a marked up car. Don't do it.

Sure. Ordering is still open. Look in the MSRP or lower thread for possible alternative dealer ideas. Or PM CamaroScotty and take a road trip.

Thanks for the help. The dealer is 2 hours away, so I'm gonna have to wait a while. And to think I was so close to being a dealer's fool.

Seriously,,,,, there are tons of dealers across the nation that are being straight up and helping Joe Q customer out. I didnt get the greatest deal, but I got the car @ MSRP and got a year of oil changes/car washes for free to boot. I just told them [sincerly becuase we all need to make money to stay alive] that I just couldnt buy a car from GM when they were in the financial condition that they are in without getting something to show that GM is dedicated to me. Its the truth. Why would I buy a car for above MSRP when I can walk down the street and get a 2 for 1 deal from Dodge? WTF sense does that make? Just remember, you best tactic is to walk away.
I dont know where you located but my dealer has an allocation of 7 with 5 orders on the books. You want to buy from them, PM me and I will show you the way.

One more thing, get online and search for auto negotiation,,, you will get a lot of hits on articles showing you what to do. But just use common sense and be honest with the guys. No all salesmen are trying to screw you so dont come out the gates the wrong way. If you start off negative you have no where else to go but down from there.

Glad you came to your senses. It is only when everyone refuses to pay rediculous markups on cars that we teach stupid dealers a lesson.

Noe, it sounds like you already placed your order with this dealer? If so, did you put down a deposit? If so, I certainly hope you negotiated for a refundable deposit!!! If you didn't get that in writing he might not give it back. But as everyone else here has said, he needs to sell at MSRP or you need to walk out and find a different dealer, $10K is ridiculous. Good Luck, keep us posted.

Yep, tell them there are WAY too many dealers out there doing MSRP....SO you're going elsewhere. If you can handle a few months wait, you'll save 10 geezers.

Don't know what part of the country you are in but my dealer here in Greensboro, NC has agreed to MSRP and they have 1 available alotment left of 9 alotments as of a week ago. So if you live within driving distance and are interested, let me know and I'll pass you my salesman's information so you can give him a call...

Did you get final numbers on supplier discount? I've heard anywhere from 1400-1800 off on a 2SS. I have only seen employee pricing listed here. Can you confirm/deny?
