Why our rotors aren't cross drilled or slotted

Why are the Corvette rotors cross drilled/slotted and ours aren't?

Cause those are gimmicks... for the most part...
If the ZL1-LE doesn't need them after extensive testing, then regular ZL1 sure doesn't...

Great point, however it would still add a aggressive look to the car.

The red calipers are what I'm missing. Anybody got ideas for that?

Powder coat would be my first recommendation, painting second.

Drilled and slotted disks do provide a margin of stopping power. The scraping of the pads will shorten stopping distance maybe 4+ feet shorter. But it will shorten pad life.

Here's the GT4R Black Dog Camaro....Slotted only...

For a track "upgrade", if you think one is necessary, usually slotted is preferred over drilled and slotted....Drilled rotors provide an easy path between holes for cracks, warping and possible rotor failure...Any heat dissipation gained from drilled holes is not worth the risk, and slotted is enough to add for some heat dissipation and improved braking....At least that has been my experience. Without spending a fortune, I went with slotted and a pad upgrade, and brake fade has not reoccurred...Definitely stay away from cheap drilled rotors....They may last forever on the street, if you want to get them for the look...

For the ZL1, you may not need anything....Not sure if anything is even available...yet. If you experience brake fade on a track day, I would suggest consulting a reputable aftermarket supplier...

Good luck.

It's specifically for cooling.

It does, however, make for a more delicate rotor, unless you go with carbon ceramic. That would, however, drive the price up another 5-7 thousand.

So...then there's the Vette...
