Buying 1yr old former rental car? From Carmax
I've noticed there are a lot of used 2017 V8 convertibles at Carmax.com, usually about 20k miles, in the $35k range. However, in most cases they are former rental/fleet cars.
1. is the GM warranty transferrable if the car is a former rental/fleet car? 2. is this a good value, or can I find a similar/better deal elsewhere? This would be a nights/weekend car (about 6k miles per year). |

Yes, you still get the balance of the factory warranty plus whatever Carmax may want to offer as an add-on warranty. You won't get the certified pre-owned warranty that a GM dealer places on CPO's they sell though.
As far as your second question, the last thing I would ever do is buy a used rental car for all of the obvious reasons. |

This guy rented one. An oldie but a goodie. However, do yourself a favor and stop watching after the crash. It's just hood rat rhetoric from future pillars of society.

For rental vehicles, on one hand they could have been abused by whoever rented them being a v8, but on the other hand they were probably upkept regularly.

This is where our society is today. Bottom feeders. Sad.

After being a member on here since 2007 and reading many posts, I can assure you there are a lot of privately owned Camaros that have also been abused..

Bought my 2015 used a year ago now with 34000 miles on it. It used to be a rental.
I got it for a really good price and also purchased an extended warranty. I beat the crap out of my car every single day and it's been perfect

Carmax is a no haggle price dealership. I would look elsewhere, better prices are out there.

You could look at my one owner.....low mileage ....full bolt on Camaroo SS thats mint. I could tell you its a garage queen and has never been abused and you wont know the difference. That is until you find all those 1/4 mile time slips in the glove box once you have paid for the car and have it at your house Fact is you just never know for sure what your getting unless you know the previous owner.

A convertible, a rental, and a V8, i'd be very leery of those.
I was in your dilemma a few months ago. Ended up settling for a V6 from a private party. I did carfax's on all the ones i was looking at, many of them had fender benders, even if minor. Some rentals I would gladly grab, but a sports car rental.....wouldn't touch it. |
