Trans Coolers

I hear that heat is an L99’s automatic transmissions worst enemy. Pretty sure this goes for the LS3 guys as well. Anyone have a trans cooler? Did it help in keeping the temps down? Before my mods my trans temp was averaging 175 degrees. After my mods I’m more in the 185-190 range. I’m thinking a trans cooler may help bring it back down a bit and save me an expensive repair bill down the road.

keeping the trans fluid temps down is the number one thing you can do to your car to make the trans live longer! Our cooler setup is a 96 row cooler with a e fan on it also. its setup for all -6 AN fittings so you dont have any rubber lines to ever worry about going bad! if you have a stall its almost a must to have a cooler!

Haven't really heard much about tranny coolers on manuals, probably because without the torque converter there isn't as much heat.

As for throwing one on the L99, I say go for it. I put a tranny cooler on my jeep, and while I didn't have a gauge, it noticeably reduce the cabin temps (I removed the carpet).

I have the pcm and very happy with it. I didnt like the fact that mine with the stall was getting around 220, but after this cooler it stays around 180 and 200 at the most when dragging.

VERY CHEAP INSURANCE for your Trans!!

I have ADM's trans cooler. It's too expensive for what it is, but I liked the fact that it was basically plug and play (ready to go with everything you need).

Down here in hot S.W. Florida, I'm averaging between 180-200 degrees but I'm running a 3200 stall.

Recently added tvs to my l99 and at same time added a 10inch trans cooler. On regular basis i see 180 at most & on 90 degree plus days in traffic i see 195 at most. The best part is that it was only 55 dollars @ oriely's.

The LS3 manual transmission has an oil pump built into it which circulates up to a cooler in the bottom of the radiator. No worries it runs fairly cool.

Where does this on mount? In front of the rad? I was thinking of getting a cooler.
