Ported heads with small cam

I plan on installing a tsp 225/236 .629/.615 113 cam in the future. Would it be worth it to send my heads to Tsp for cnc porting with such a small cam?
I do realize that a larger cam would be more beneficial however I prefer to stay with a smaller cam for street manners. Thanks in advance.

Since it's a TSP cam. I would call and ask. I'm sure they did testing on the cam and can direct you...

It’ll be in tsp’s best interest to tell you yes. Your best interest would be no. Stock heads flow remarkably well. If your intent is to wring all you can out of it, then let the porting begin.

Ported heads AND milled for higher comp yes. But if no milling, no more than 15rwhp I guess.

I have the same cam, yes the porting helps. I made 485 at the back tire with that cam, also had rod mod intake and ported TB

rdavis, if you want to squeeze every last HP out of that engine then go for it. If that doesn't matter to you then money can be better spent elsewhere. I know when I can afford to port my stockers or a nice set of heads I will sure as hell be doing it. My goal is to try and get as close to 500rwhp as possible behind the 6L80, but I have a lot of work to do. A good port and mill is worth 15-20+ hp, and a set of aftermarket ported heads can be worth for much more. Driveability wise, that TSP cam should be fine for you. It is very close in spec to my cam in duration. I am right on the edge of needing a convertor, but behind your 6 speed you should be golden as long as tuning is on point.

Milled my 821's to .015

By my calculations, I should be right at 11:1 scr now with that. Stock 821 heads with .015" mill, LS3 flat tops, stock thickness Fel-Pro head gaskets. Does that sound about right?

Right now I am running a Howards ASA cam except mine is on a 113 LSA. The car runs decent, and other than the choppy idle drives like stock. However I just cant get over the feeling that I am leaving alot on the table because of the cams small lift. I do have the mentioned TSP stage 1 with the supporting items (springs seals etc) the specs between the to cams are very close other than the valve lift. I also feel like porting the heads & running a .525 lift cam would not be very productive, Am I correct in assuming all this?
A couple of years ago we installed a TSP stage 3 in my buddy's 2010. The car ran like a raped ape. He was making 480+ to the tires. This is the area that i want to be in. Thanks for the comments/suggestions.

Right now I have 11:33 on 91oct, and would have gone more but no more PTV.

Go stage 3 TSP with stock heads(or at least stage 2 or custom between stage 2-3) and invest in rod-mod intake. Made 519rwhp cam only with TSP stage 3 231-236, but I had short runner intake, 18lbs clutch, U/D, manual, 102mm TB, air scoop, vararam drx. Dyno to dyno comparison is useless but it trapped 124mph, drag pack and some very basic WR.

Seriously, if you have a cam already, go bigger this time, to be worth it. But other boltons would be better maybe.

Pat G tuned my stuff and the 231 236 was easy on the streets, but the clutch is non-streetable, just so you know LOL
