I was not a huge fan of the ZL1/early gen front bumpers and the Z28 was just a little to "track" focused for me (i.e. CC Brakes are insanely expensive for the street use).

I ended up finding the 1LE as a good alternative. I personally think the styling mark of the 14/15 1LE is the best of the (3) with the matte hood although I do have aftermarket Z28 spoiler and grille.

That being said why I throw this out there is you can still get some of the same perks but at a huge discount. Recaros, TR6060, 3.91 gears, ZL1 Toe Links, Axles, etc..

The kicker here is that then gives you a huge buffer in price to build what you want.

I paid $20k for my 2015 1SS/1LE with 15k miles on it. It was a Recaro car and already had cam/headers/cai. That gives me another $15-18k to reach the price point I would have paid for a stock ZL1 or Z28.

I plan on swapping for a Blower Cam and installing a TVS2300 and will be out the door for under $30k. The car will be very comparable to a ZL1, still have similar rarity as 1LE had low production numbers, and the only thing I am missing is forged internals of which the LS3 is highly capable of handling what I am looking at.

This being said I am sure you know all this as if I remember correctly your friend had pretty much the exact car I am looking to build lol.
Yes, my friend had the exact same car. I rode in that car and it was a monster, after riding in that car I knew I wanted one. He was selling it in the low 30's. That being said, yes I could find a good deal on a 1LE, to me that's exactly like buying a C6 Z51 vs a Z06. At the end of the day the Z06/ZL1 will always demand more money. With my tracked record on cars, I want to purchase a car that will retain some of the value. When I sold my ZL1, I only lost like 1,000 bucks. Now compare that to my old 2002, 69, and all the other ones its nothing. I lost about 13k on my last 2002. I do appreciate the advice, I know I would personally regret buying a 1LE and always want the ZL1 in the end.

I've owned several 4th gens since the late 90s. Absolutely love them and would love to have another one some day. I don't think I could be happy without finding a twin to my 2002 SOM/Camel M6 WS6. I ordered that car new and have regretted getting rid of it for 17 years now.

That's probably the only car I would go back to a 4th gen for. The 5th and 6th gens are just too good.

For about two weeks, I thought I was going to sell my car to get into a ZL1. Decided to keep the car and start putting some money into it instead. Thankfully no one brought me the money.

First mod minus the UMI strut tower brace is going to be GMMG catback with their "premium" Big oval tips. Having to have to order the tips through a separate company since mad hammer (Original maker of the GMMG catback) doesn't sell them anymore.

Quick little update photo. Candy Corn "Exported" tail lights on order. Should get them next week. Might leave them in the box since they are a hot item in the states. Still torn between a Corsa catback or GMMG. Thoughts?

Thought so. Do not ever think of getting rid of it (unless it is absolutely necessary). The way I look at it: Life can be twice as fun!!!!

Well quick little update, the candy corns that I ordered were fakes. So I returned that, luckily I was home when DHL tried to deliver them. Rejected the delivery and they have been sitting in Nashville hub since the 8th. Called DHL and they said that the seller authorized to "destroy" the product there. I asked ebay to step in and help me since I've been going back and forth for weeks. Ebay said they would give me a full refund thankfully. If you check ebay now for them he has them listed a reproductions.

Wife wasn't too thrilled about this transaction, I mentioned these tails lights right before she went to bed and she said just buy them. After they turned out to be fakes and me possibly not getting a refund and she finding out they were 465 I'm in the dog house. So the GMMG catback is going to be a little longer.

I've always wanted a GMMG car, a SOM GMMG car slipped through my hands a few years back. I'll just do the catback for now, if I want it to be louder ill work my way up to the front of the car lol. There's one thing I know I don't want to deal with and that's rasp. If I do go with headers I'm going to go with high-flow cats.

A quick little update, I just snagged up a set of original GMMG premium oval tips. Catback is on order, I plan on taking some 400, 1000 grit sandpaper and polishing up catback to a mirror finish. More photos to follow, wife tested positive so I'll have two weeks off to get everything cleaned up.
