Dropping fuel tank, what projects should I tackle while I am in there.

So, I am swapping out my fuel pump. Looking to also install solid rear cradle mounts while I am in there.

Since I am dropping the cradle and the fuel tank. Dropping the exhaust and driveshaft. Not a process I will want to repeat soon so I am looking for suggestions of what other upgrades I can do while I am in there.

Cradle bushings, fuel tank trap door at least minimum.

I will probably get laughed at for this, but as preventative/preemptive maintenance you could slap in a new Evaporative Emission Vent Solenoid Valve.

Only because it is a massive PITA to do if you get a p0449 out of the blue. It's like a $30-40 part.

Good to know, adding to the list.

I just did some searching around for the EVAP solenoid you mention. I found one for the V6 on a 2010 part number 92226690. Any idea if this is the right one? It is discontinued on GM warehouse, and $100 at Summit.

Isn't there a DIY here on how to do this without it being such a major PITA?

Also, it isn't good hearing this part has been discontinued already. Is GM no longer abiding by the 10 year rule for keeping parts in inventory? Ugh!

So doing some further research, I am reading that this can be done in the driveway, or better yet on a lift in 30 minutes without dropping the tank. Apparently it is the same fix on both the V6 and V8 cars.

I believe that part # 92226690 you listed is actually the entire vapor canister assembly, but the part number I came coming up with is for just the vent valve is 19329627, found an AC Delco on Rock Auto like $40. I am not 100% certain that 92226690 also includes 19329627 as part of the entire assembly, but it would make sense.

According to Ryan from GPI in a thread from 2013:

'The vent solenoid can be changed WITHOUT dropping the tank! About a 30 minute job on a lift, just take the canister loose and it be removed and installed without dropping the tank.' - 'Its on the canister that sits right behind/above the fuel tank. You can loosen the canister, let it hang some and remove and replace the solenoid. Its tight, but it can be done!'

If what Ryan from GPI and Mikeman (above) says here is correct, which I am sure is, then this is something you can wait to replace if it ever fails in the future instead of worrying about now. Knowing this now, I would just wait, personally. But I totally understand wanting to knock it out when you have the chance rather than waiting for a failure.

Thanks for the research! I think I am going to do it while I am in there. $40, why not. I don’t have a lift so it may be worth for me to do now.
