the glass roof on the Mustang is a $2000. option and as of yesterday is still available. I like the open feeling, without it being open or hot in the summertime.

I think we'll see more of these as designers look for more ways to make cars unique. This could allow for decent rear visibility while using radically sloping windows and such. Construction and other design aspects have gotten better (strength, rigidity, etc), so it's more feasable. Probably look to see electronically variable tint in the near future as well (like the windows on the new boeing 787).

Ive seen the t-tops in person; they do look sick and i still want them! on the other hand i did see a camaro that had a targa top that looked neat. Why not have a targa glass top roof! lol if you ever planning on do anything with the car besides drag racing forget structural integrity (only reason i havent done it yet).

currently DropTop Customs will do the conversion for $6500 and I've heard quotes from WCC anywhere from $8k-12k.

I hate the look of the glass roof on the mustang. Personally I love T-Tops and think as far as glass on the roof goes T-tops are the only way to go. They just scream Camaro to me and I wish it was a factory option on the 5th gens.

Had tinted glass T-tops installed aftermarket on a 1976 Camaro. Best Mod ever. Wish I could get them now.

I'm not a huge fan of the bar that goes through the middle of the T-top. If it could be done in one solid piece like on the C5 vettes that would be awesome!

To me it would seem like riding in the back seat of a CTS coupe. My first thought was, this sure is odd sitting here with glass overhead. Anyone got some sunscreen?
Why would you need sunscreen? Just like the rest of the glass in your car, it blocks the UV rays... I had a glass roof installed in my Mustang, and my bald head was fine! LOL!

My wife hated my Mustang, but when she sat in it the first time after having the glass roof installed, she looked up, pointed at the glass roof and said, "Don't tell anyone I said this but THAT is COOL!" LOL!

Was the glass roof as cool as T-tops... No. But when glass t-tops aren't an option, the glass roof was pretty darn cool!!

What would be involved, has anyone seen this done before?

I know theres some custom shops out there that have probably done similar things.

I would assume most of where the glass would go is dead space.
.
A glass roof would actually maintain the car's structural integrity... The glass they use is a couple of layers, with some laminates in between... When I was having mine installed in my Mustang, they were talking about a car that got T-boned, broke the front and rear windshields yet, the glass roof was ok...

Here's what they have to do to install on a Mustang! LOL!

Now I know you said you don't want a sunroof... but i don't see how a custom shop would be able to put a glass roof in... a one off thing would be horribly expensive! If it were even possible....

But Webasto does make a nice sunroof:
