Supercharger oil?

Hello everyone. My ZL1 has 5k miles on it now and was wondering if I should change the supercharger oil. What oil does it require and how much? Thanks

I don't even see it listed as a serviceable item in the manual. I'm pretty sure if I remember right, that EATON makes a specific gear oil for the blower, and it's 4-5 oz.

Right... and there really is no need to change out the supercharger oil unless it's a very high mileage car, it has seen extreme service or new supercharger oil is necessary after replacing the supercharger. It is a closed system.

However, out of interest, I found this online but I'm not sure if this is applicable to our units.

Since these Eaton superchargers do not have an oil drain plug. You normally will have to drain the oil from the oil fill hole. We find that using an old spay bottle works very well and since most people have them laying around the house it does not require you to make a special trip to the store. You can also use a Syringe or a baster depending on what is available to you.

Be careful and do NOT overfill the supercharger with oil. If you over fill the supercharger oil beyond the recommended oil requirements, it can cause the oil to expand and leak out of the supercharger seals. If this happens you will need to get a rebuild performed.

Only use the GM supercharger oil. Nothing else. They come in 4 oz. bottles and the capacity in the unit is 6-7 oz.

Best regards,

Elie
