ZL1 received Opti-Coat treatment

ZL1 had Opti-Coat 2.0 applied to it today. These photos, taken with my phone, don't come close to showing how great the finish looks after the application. If you live in the Central Ohio area, I highly recommend Silver Lining Detail.

$500. This includes the cost of paint correction prior to the application of the Opti-Coat.

How does Opti-coat compare to the usual 'paint protection' sealers the dealers promote. I'm curious.

Totally different material. If I had known about this stuff when I first got my car I definitely would've gone that way. Permanent bond, I just read about it at Autogeek, they sell it for like $70 but you need to prep the vehicle first, it has to be flawless. Not sure I would attempt this myself, rather get a pro to apply.

Your car looks stunning, great job they did indeed! Looks like you also have a clear bra? I'm assuming they went over it as well. From what I read this Opti-coat 2.0 is really tough stuff. Good investment!

The web site describes it as a ceramic clear coat similar to what is applied at the factory. I read a lot of reviews on the stuff and all were overwhelmingly positive. Since it does form a hard layer over the existing paint and clear coat, you are absolutely correct that prepping the vehicle is critical. My detailer said he spent almost 7 hrs polishing my car before applying the Opti-Coat. Any flaws in the paint will be trapped under the Opti-Coat and there's no way to correct them afterwards without sanding off the Opti-Coat. I definitely wouldn't recommend apply it yourself unless you're confident in your ability to properly prep the paint.

Thanks. I'm very pleased with the results and glad I invested in the treatment. No clear bra on the car though.

Opti-coat will polish off. It's tough stuff for sure but not tough enough to require sanding. I have Opti-guard on mine which is marketed as the "professional" version. I believe though the only difference is the drying time. Opti-guard is @20 minutes and Opti-coat is @2 hours so obviously the Opti-coat is a little more forgiving if you leave any high spots you will have some extra time to wipe it down.

My detailer did an awesome job but after the first wash I did find a couple of small high spots (looks like a smear). He came back and with some simple finish polish he knocked it off those spots and reapplied the Opti-guard to those same spots.

Great stuff and makes washing and drying a breeze.

Sweet looking ride Hawk02

Did parts of my ZL1 myself! Only thing I haven't done is the doors. Major difference. Not hard to put on or take off.
