JBA Cat Delete throwing CEL. How can I clear it

Hello everyone,

I have a 2015 Camaro 2SS. I just installed the jba mid pipe. I have the proforma exhaust from gm on it already. Easy install and it sounds great. However, now I have my check engine light on. Any ideas on how to get rid of it? I'm new about cars and a Virgin on forums. Not much knowledge on either. So any help would be great. And if anyone is around Camp Lejeune I'm always down to go for rides haha

You need to have the vehicle tuned which will result in a voided warranty should you ever become in need of it. You should have researched better before just throwing parts on the car. If you don't want to tune it then I suggest putting the cats back on.

I did my research. I don't plan on keeping the warranty. Just buying the car set me back a few bucks and can't afford a tune right away. Thanks though

Will it mess up the car at all?

No the cel will not mess the car up, the car is just throwing a code for cat deficiency because you no longer have cats. I'm not sure if o2 extenders would get rid of the cel or not, maybe someone else can chime in on this.

O2 extensions are just for the front O2s to have enough length when you have headers. They won't make a difference^

By extenders he is referring to a metal bung extension that adds space to move the sensor further away from the pipe so they dont get as much flow.

So how does moving the o2 sensor further out of the way allow it to get a better reading? I'm sorry I'm not fully tracking on how this fixes the problem. Thanks for all the help btw

The O2 extender is used when installing headers. It is a wire(s) that plugs in to the the front O2 sensors (making them longer) so they will reach the location of the O2 bung on the end of the headers which is farther away than the factory ones.
Save your pennies and get some long tube headers then a tune.

I just added the same JBA cats to my camaro about 2 months ago. The CEL came on after 200 miles. I installed the O2 sensor from dig daddy. Its not a wire extension. After install I went to autozone and told them I just replaced my o2 sensor (not a lie) and I cleared the code. I have no issues at all now.

They are $15 each, you will need 2.

Did the same for my hi flow cats or in ur case the off road pipe replacing the cats...Big Daddies has the o2 sensor bung but also has a replacement extension o2plug that reads ur mixture as being true & will eliminate the CEL, but they are $50 each.. Check out his website BigDaddies.com
good luck

Save up for a tune and call it good. You're leaving 20+hp on the table without the tune.

Good advice in getting the extenders. The high flow cats don't require a tune to be effective. They provide a decent boost in power without a tune. To keep your warranty just get pm the guys that have done it and enjoy your car till the warranty is up.
