18's on the z28?

I thought I saw that someone put 18's on the Z28. Has anyone done this or seen this yet?

I think you can find 18s that fit over the brakes, but just barely. The concern is getting any track debris between wheel and caliper. Could easily damage both.

On the CCMs I highly doubt u can fit 18s. The zl1 brakes barely clear 18s.

Finspeed, Forgeline and CCW all offer 18" wheels that will clear the big CCM' rotors that are used on the Z28 and Vette.

The concern is not necessarily fitting over the calipers as it can be done.....

The concern would be when you add wheel weights and if/when you track the car the the debris and small rocks sometimes stuck in the rubber could come in contact with the caliper.

Not my picture, but this highlights the issue.

Are those rotors 394mm? I don't know the spec.

completely OT...notice the EMI sticker on Dropspeed's pict...that is for Eric Messley EMI racing...he is probably one of the few people who could make custom go faster parts for this z/28 suspension...he was big with the viper crowd and supported Mumford's comp coupe win against the factory audi team. Many years ago, a prominent nascar engineer was looking at his parts on my car and was very very impressed...just a side note...anybody use him lately?

Track wheels are track wheels. They are going to get damaged and scraped up from changing tires so often etc. Having said that though my 18" finspeeds with ceramic coating still look brand new after a years worth of track use and clear the CCM's, wheel weights etc. on my car with zero issues. Bottom line though is that virtually every vette with CCM rotors that is tracked has been running 18's the last 3-4 years so it's nothing new.

See Dropspeed's poste below regarding the Z28. On the Corvette we use 394 x 36mm fronts and 380 x 34mm rears if I'm not mistaken.

Besides Finspeed, Forgeline and CCW are there any options less expensive?

It's been crickets on this thread, don't think anyone has done it. In looking at the space I don't see how it's possible, but I'm not a wheel guy and actually have an email into forgeline to see.

I sure have been waiting to see also. I thought one of these guys tracking the car would have "borrowed" someones 18s to try it.
