17/18 ZL1 manuals bogging and stalling

Hi all
I currently have a 5th gen ZL1. There is nearly new 2018 ZL1 manual transmission that I’m considering. I’ve been hearing about the 17/18 manuals bogging and stalling. Do all the 18’s have this problem? I see the Chevrolet offers a download that some say fixes the problem. I notice that some people are going to a ported throttled body. I’m wondering if I should just look for an automatic.

I have heard of this and experienced it when I went and test drove a 18 SS 1LE. It isn't too bad but I can see that it would be annoying after a couple weeks of it. I have not read of the fix yet. But you might get more info on the 6th gen forum.

Go over to Camaro6 forum in the ZL1section. Throttle body change has help a lot for some guys. Ted Janetty has found issues with the tune and how the MAF is off causing most of this. But you’d need a tune and that will void the warranty, if that matters to you.

It seems there are 3 things going. The throttle body itself – porting seems to help that. The tune and when the throttle body closes – That’s what Ted fixed with his tune. But the main issue is apparently the algorithm in the ELSD differential. Chevy won’t admit it’s an issue but offers a download for $350 that seems to resolve the problem.

From what I’ve read it affects all 17’s and some 18’s

Thanks

From all that I’ve read the maf over reports air flow causing throttle to close. That could be a big part of the problem from reading all that’s been posted. Check this out. https://www.camaro6.com/forums/member.php?u=11569

Sorry let me try again https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=543933 on the second page he talks about the maf and how it over reports. It’s a couple post down from top.
Actually it’s post 26. Whole thread is a good read though.

Yeah I was just reading that the other day. Hopefully that will make some significant changes for the better.

Negotiate the price of this $350 download fix with the deal and buy the car....
