finally!! my story :D - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

so here's my "IT'S FINALLY HERE!!!" story...lol

so at the beginning of the summer i made the big decision that i really wanted the new Camaro SS...i realized i had the means with which to do it and decided it was time to put my order in at my local dealership.

maybe i'm a little ahead of myself...before all this i was a mustang guy for sure (i know, i know...please forgive me lol) and my best friend was the camaro guy. my previous car was an '05 V6 Mustang with quite a few upgrades but still it wasn't V8 American muscle. as a kid my dream cars were always mustang gt's and cobras and when i got my V6 mustang as a senior in high school i was very happy to have the new mustang but still yearned for the V8 power, sound, and feel...so fast forward a few years to the end of my junior year in college (now going into my senior year) i still thought my next car was going to be the mustang gt and that i would be as happy as a pig in **** with it lol...but when my local dealership had a welcoming ceremony in early may to debut the camaro and i saw the SS fire up, and drive away for the first time in person chills crept up my spine and i knew i had been converted hahahaha...

so fast forward a few weeks and those thoughts and feelings from the welcoming ceremony kept resonating in my mind and i decided "well, why not exceed my dreams?"

...so i put in my order for a 2SS RS Black manual Camaro and began my long and torturous wait...

the first month was the worst by far...no joke i had what i like to call "Camaro-induced insomnia" and would stay up until 5 in the morning every single night looking up pictures, watching youtube videos, and scouring the forums soaking up every little detail of our beloved car to get me through the wait...but even this was not enough...

i kept thinking to myself "why am I waiting so long for something that i have never even driven?"....and pretty soon those thoughts would turn into "why don't i just cancel my camaro order and go get a mustang gt with all the goodies possible and have it right now?" (i know, i know...this is called "Camaro Blasphemy"...it will never happen again lol)...but forums like this and youtube videos ended up winning the fight and kept me loyal to my new dream of having the new Camaro SS...

fast forward a little bit more and providing a little more details...i'm currently out of the country on a semester exchange in mexico and yesterday i got the call from my dad that the dealership gave him "the call"...i swallowed my pride and told him to go for it and pick it up, even though i wanted so badly to be the first one to drive it and enjoy it...this of course was said under the condition that he take lots of pictures and video so i could enjoy it from afar until i can come back in 2 weeks to enjoy it myself and sign the papers and write the check...

this being said still not having driven it and only seeing my pictures and videos...THIS CAR HAS EXCEEDED EVERY SINGLE EXPECTATION I HAD AND GIVES ME CHILLS KNOWING THAT IT SITS IN MY GARAGE RIGHT NOW...THE SOUND OF THE ENGINE IS IGNITING AND ABSOLUTELY EMBODIES WHAT IT MEANS TO BE AN AMERICAN ICON AND FURTHERMORE EMBODIES THE AMERICAN SPIRIT...AT LEAST IT SURE DOES CAPTURE MINE. THIS CAR SURPASSES THE MUSTANG IN LOOKS, PERFORMANCE, AND SATISFACTION FOR ME MORE THAN I COULD EVER DESCRIBE AND I BELIEVE THIS CAR MARKS THE BEGINNING OF "THE NEW AMERICAN PONY CAR ICON" MUCH MORE SO THAN DOES THE MUSTANG...

truly an A+...Thank you GM i love my new camaro

Congrats! You are lucky to be starting your senior year in college and getting a Camaro. I'm starting mine as well but in no shape or form can attempt to afford one lol for a very long time. Enjoy it for me whenever you get back!

haha no it had 2 miles i believe....i told my dad and best friend they could drive her so the 77 is the result of them enjoying her hahaha

Awesome man!! Congrats!! Great story. You'll have to post pictures of you with your car once you can finally drive it. I'll bet you think of virtually nothing else.

car looks great now have your dad remove that dealer logo off the left side of the deck lid before you get home! Do they pay you to advertise? I think not plus it kills the look of the back of the car!

And you are right, the last pic you added is a great angle! Enjoy and good luck finishing up college!

thanks everyone! yeah you're right i can't think of anything else...i think i'm starting to annoy my dad calling a few times a day wanting to know about the car (how she looks, how she feels and handles, where is she, how is she lol)...there isn't much else on my mind right now so this forum has definitely helped me to channel my obsession with others equally obsessed! lol
