Seat Wear from Seat Belt Seriously !!!!!
After reading the post from Prd72 I looked at my seat and yes also worn / tearing from the seat belt.
Question is Chevy really going to replace seat after seat or come up with a real solution? Or more likely in my case tell me to piss off. My car is two weeks old with 574 miles and has significant wear though not as bad as Prd72 (sorry stole your photo) WTF they didn't notice this on CTF or early test prototypes? Does anyone have a car that does not show wear (that is using the belt retainer) |

3300 miles and mine isn't showing the wear yet...But I can see where eventually it will, as I can see where the issue is trying to develop.

My Actual Seat 574 miles
Wonder is it a driver size that exacerbates the problem.
I'm 6'2" with a few more pounds than optimal. 220lbs 48"-50" chest. Maybe seating position I have the seat all the way back Again photo is 574 Miles 14 days old. Probably driven the car 10 times |

I'd be taking that in under warranty, and wouldn't let them or anyone else give me any excuses.

Oh no doubt about and i will be going over there at lunch....but to Prd72 point. Why wouldn't it happen again two weeks later. Unless Recaro had a bad batch of vinyl \ leather.

cheap leather...no doubt it is expected. I am sure mine has the same wear and honestly, I have never looked at that area of the seat once.

pull the belt foward towards the left dash vent for some slack and then down to connect it. Its what I do and I have little to no wear with 10K miles on the car.

It's a terrible design, and one of the few things I dislike about my car. It's almost like the seat belt was an afterthought for Recaro. I love the seats though. I put a sheepskin pad around mine and never use the loop.

Don't get me wrong. I can think of ten ways to stop it from happening in the future. Not the point. The damage in done now.
How many people here have ~75K cars with less than 5000 miles on them that the seat is torn from normal use. Right now i have it out of the loop but it's very uncomfortable. I think i will add cover of some type. Now the battle to see if Chevy will step up and fix or replace the seat. |

OP. no problem stealing the photo.
GM replaced the entire back/top section of my seat. Even if you have a little bit of wear I would complain so that it actually becomes a bulletin. Between the two model years there will be less than 100 z/28cars north of the border so you Americans better mention it on your first oil change.. I am pretty sure the wear was from pulling the seat belt across instead of out then across. Either way I think it,s a Recaro design thing.I would be interested if GM sends them the bill. |

I called GM directly, made them aware of all of these, and got a case number for this set up for my VIN. They will alert your dealer and get the process going to fix it under warranty. You can contact GM at 800-222-1020.
