Zl1 Boston Acoustics Sub upgrade GM #19119226
So after Driving my car around with OE Boston Acoustics system I realized it sounded good but just was lacking in Base it was 95% there but just didn't give me that Ooh Ahh feeling I was wanting so I researched and found GM had a dealer available Kicker upgrade PN 19119226 of course its $1049 GM list but saw others had found them for less and I ended with only $325 in this one so I bought it 10-15 months ago and needed my sons help as I'm not so bendy as I used to be we had to run harness from trunk to console to under dash to connect to factory display nd to mount the amp by steering column. we finally did this a couple months ago so I thought I'd share my opinion. Wow not only did this add the Base I was looking for but also amplified the rest of the system to point of I don't max it out the volume like I used too

most owners go with the the sub thump t harness for installing a sub, props for putting in the work though. A sub def improves the ba system!

wow that was simple I guess Boston amp is in trunk in video it would of saved all the fun of removing console and running Kickers harness I just wanted to post mine up I ended up with less than $350 in my Kicker add on. Before I bought I searched this board and didn't see much and I'm no electronics guy I like the Keep it simple stupid method

I might have to try this since I’m really unhappy with the sound of my BA system. I have the exact same head unit in another vehicle and the difference is significant. Meanwhile I’ve been in crappy cars that have little subs as part of the stock system (Focus, Cobalt) and they sound better than the BA.
I found this link and it has a different part number, 19113112. I think I’ll try this route since it seems like a quick and easy upgrade. I know some people say I could get the same results cheaper but I like the way this box integrates with the trunk. https://youtu.be/WsiWlcljkJ4

Installed one in my car a couple months back. These are discontinued now. The closest dealer that had a kit in stock was in Texas. They had 2 kits available at the time. Got mine at cost plus 5% if I recall correctly. Below is the sheet for the different kits.

I really wanted to go this route, especially since it was specifically designed for our cars, but the cheapest I could find was $500 plus. Just a bit too stiff for me right now - that’s why I went with the RockfordFosgate for $220 I posted about in a separate thread.
