It's what I thought, because I've seen second generation vehicles without the console. Although, I'm not sure the lack of a console in the second generation increases interior room, because it sorta seems that the seats are lower, bringing the center 'hump' higher.

What's more important is that I could bang in the back of my 1st gen, my 2nd gen, my 5th gen coupe. I would've given it a try in my 5th gen vert or 6th if I were 40 years younger.

It requires much flexibility.

Damn I remember the transition from cassettes to Columbia House and BMG 7 for $.01. Think I still have some cassettes in the game room, and pops has his 8 tracks. Might still owe Columbia House money lol.

Tough call for me on what Gen has the most room. Certain at 6'4" 250 lbs. its not the 6 Gens I've looked at. Hate the way I feel crammed in the driver seat against the console, and back seat in the way of moving back far enough.

I have had all of them minus the 6 th gen ..in the form of Trans-am /firebird mostly ..but I have to say at 6 foot 3 and 265lb ..the 5th gen is the most comfortable I've ever had.
None have ever felt like they were made for big guys by any stretch but ..I don't find myself miserable after a couple hours of driving as I have in many versions of the past

Great information and Camaro... I'm biased though.

Ive been in a 4th-5th and out of those the 5th is the biggest for sure. I was surprised how much tighter the 6th gen was.

Was the 6th generation tighter than the 4th generation?

IMO, no. The 4th gen was tight through most of it. If you ever sat on the passenger side the floor rose up some which made it feel even worse. The 6th gen is tight and the center vent IMO is horribly placed (the only thing it's cooling is the driver's knee). However, leg and head room goes to the 6th gen while shoulder room is a tie if not a little tighter on the 6th gen than 4th. Again all of this is my opinion. I am a little above the average sized person at 7' tall.

Have owned 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th gens, the 1st gen definitely seemed roomier, especially the rear seat area.

Which do you consider second in roominess?

I'd say it's a toss up between the 2nd & 5th; I believe the 5th has a roomier front seat area, whereas the 2nd had a little more room in the rear seat area; at least when I compare having my daughter in the back of my 2nd gen when she was 8-9 and now having my 8 year old granddaughter in the back of my 5th.

Also, have driven both the 4th & 6th gen's; they are not even in the running.
