Price check in isle 5 please

Hi everyone, I'm a long time lurker, first time poster. I've been a pretty active member on the HDforums and F-150forums, and hopefully will be here too...

After much debate, I've decided that this is not a great time in my life to be riding Harley's, and I'm about to pull the trigger on what I think is a real nice SS. I'm hoping for some pricing advice from members in the know.

Here is what I found:

2012 Camaro 2SS Convertible - Crystal Red Metallic Tintcoat / Black Leather
Black Stripe Package
A6/Tapshift tranny
Remote Start
RS Package

The car is pretty clean except for a two small dings that they are going to take care of. Only 11600 miles, and they will CPO the car to extend the factory warranty and include 2 years free maintenance.

What is a good price for this car?

Thanks in advance,
mikebaby

I have a 2011 2SS/RS convertible that I bought a few months ago with 4000 miles on it and 100% of original factory warranty (as it had never actually been sold before). Based on what I paid the dealer, I would venture to say that around $30K should be your ballpark - give or take a little, but not much.

As to the engine, as elektrik just alluded to, you're about to open a can of worms of opinions on here, LOL. In all honesty, though, they're both great engines.

Thanks.... In regards to the engine question, I'm really just wondering if the L99 has any gremlins that I may want to consider prior to purchase. I doubt I do anything to mod the performance of the car except to maybe add a tuner to firm up the shifts, and possibly an exhaust.

Nope, the differences between the L99 and LS3 come in when you start moding the engine. Things like a camshaft upgrade are more expensive on an L99 than an LS3 because of VVT and AFM. Some people say AFM changes the exhaust note of the engine. If you aren't modding the engine you won't notice a huge difference between the engines.

You have AFM on the L99. Will make it sound like a honda on the highway unless you disable it with a tuner or range device.

Uh huh, sure. That's what most people say, I'm just gonna do... Then you end up with a car like mine. Lol. Good luck in your purchase, either way you will love it!

I just paid 36500 for a 13 2ss rs vert with stripe, nav, short throw and dual mode exhaust. So high 20's low 30' would be my guess.

L99 is for people who want to be someone... LS3 is for people who are someone.
