Coolant additives worth it?

Are coolant additives worth the trouble or is it just a scam? Do water wetters make a noticable difference in less than highly modified engines or extreme conditions?

Which brand do you think is best?

I use Redline Water Wetter in everything I own. Even the tuner put it in my SC cooling system.

When I do track days that require coolant to be drained, I run the Redline and water and the bike runs cooler than with coolant.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that you DO need some coolant to protect against corrosion. Especially with dissimilar metals. BUT, you should reduce the amount of coolant to approx 20-25% of the mix for the best results from the water wetter.

I used Royal Purples Purple Ice in my truck but couldn't see a big difference. Not that there wasn't I just didn't see it.

Years ago, alot of my Buick Grandnational friends had me try using distilled water with RMI-25 only. Been using it ever since. It isn't glycol based so it's safe for the track. I've been using it in my track bike ever since as well.

Unlike Redline Water Wetter alone, RMI-25 is a corrosion inhibitor and actually cleans out your colling system. The cool thing about it (no pun intended) is that it's biodegradable.
