Question Dumb License Plate Question

OK ... so I have never had a reason to get a personalized license plate. The good news is having my Camaro on order, I now do!!

So, here's where the dumb part comes ... Can anyone tell me the process? I have seen those inserts in my registration renewal, but have always ignored them.

Also, is there a simple way to check omnline to see if what you want is taken? Kinda like domain names or web ID's?

I have some thoughts, but would like to know if I need to keep coming up with alternatives.

Thanks very much! T.

Excellent!!! I am testing the waters now ... Already found 2 that work for me so far ... Not bad, better than I thought!

Wonder if you can buy them before the car is even built or if you need a registration??

Thanks! T.

I just ordered mine. Takes about 2 minutes.

They just ask the following:

Of course, what you want on the plate
what is the meaning of the plate
Name
address
which DMV location you want to pick them up at
credit card no.
vehicle type

Once you click that buy it botton there is no turning back
and no refunds. So triple check your info

Yes, you can go ahead and order them without having the car. After about 6 to 8 weeks you will get a postcard in the mail telling you the plates are ready and what DMV office to go to pick them up at. In order to pick them up you will need your current plates and registration however (and the postcard that you received in the mail).

Thanks Everyone, T.

when i ordered mine a couple years ago (for my colorado, which i sold and leased a camry knowing i'd be buying a camaro...but needed a 4 door for my son's car seat) i waited until i had the plate from the dealer. then i went and ordered it online. when i picked it up at the DMV i gave them my old plates and got the personalized ones.
