I've been putting off ordering my car, waiting for GM to announce dealer closures. GM rep said that my order would be honored by GM at a closed or to be closed dealership but that my deposit, if any, would probably be history.

The dealership should send a notice of few weeks in advance b4 they close. But I think Cadillac and Chevy will be safe. All I've been hearing from GM is Saturn, SAAB, Hummer, and Pontiac are the ones they might be history.

He's talking about dealerships, not brands. There will be dealership closures among the 4 remaining brands as they cut the dealer force roughly in half over the next 2 years.

i know that there is a similar post to this one somewhere, if i find it I'll post the link. from what i understand and can remember, you should be able to get yo money back if it was refundable. as far as your order, you would have to contact the district manager to transfer your order to another dealership.

i'll try to look for the other thread...

I think that you can transfer your order to another dealership if yours is one that is closing.
