I think they do need to make lot cars and other cars - what's the sense of doing an unveiling and creating all this hype if they then have no cars to sell these people? The average consumer, if you tell them "oh, this car is awesome, but you won't be able to get one until December," will go out and buy something that is readily available, ie, a Mustang or a Charger. So they do need to make lot cars so the people who aren't invested in the Camaro name and just want something that looks cool and goes fast can buy them while the hype is in effect. And if they need to make more CTF cars to test future options, then so be it.

If you can't stand the wait, then when you see something on the lot, buy it. Otherwise, I feel you are waiting for the privilege of getting the exact car you want.

However, I do agree that they should be making mostly R6Ps. I would say at least 90% of the cars they make in May should be early preorders. And I agree that the preorder process should go in chronological order - there's no reason cars being ordered in March should be delivered before cars ordered last October. I don't understand the logistics of why it is going by dealer allotment rather than when the order is placed overall - I'm sure there is a reason but it does not seem like the best way to me.

I haven't placed my order yet (going in sometime next week) but I fully expect to be waiting until late summer/the fall for my order. GM needs to do what it needs to make money and stay in business, which includes both getting cars on the lot and making sure those who preordered are happy.

Good point. They could have placed conditions on the allocation number which said anything not sold by January 1 was going to be redistributed to the dealerships who sold out. God knows CamaroScotty could have sold one or two more.

What is R6P?

I am sorry but what does R6P stand for? Is it any order taken prior to production starting which was Mar 17th I believe? If that is the case my answer is definitely yes since I ordered Mar 12.

Frankly I can't see any reason for this not to happen. If someone puts in an order at the dealerships, they can wait until July.
Hylton, why don't we start one of those online petitons and once done lets send the link via email and snail mail to the new CEO of GM?
Also tell other sister type sites to sign it too!!

If GM wanted to sell cars, they would know that the best advertisment is word of mouth. The more Pre-sold orders they have on the street, the better because the people that pre-orderd are more than likely say nothin but GREAT things about the car to everybody and it will be talked about. "HEY! Have you seen the bad ass orange Camaro runnin around here?". It leaves people wanting to know and see more of the car. I undersatand that they need to get cars on the lots and all, but if people that want to buy off the lot hear about the trouble the pre-orders are going through, wouldnt you think that would turn them off? I say make the people that have already given GM money happy because the people that want to buy them off the lot are going to be happy no matter what. Most of your pre sold orders are repeat customers, dont you want to keep them coming back?

Will GM see this Thread/Poll?

They should build nothing BUT R6P cars until they are all built and shipped. That's what they should have been doing all a long. No one should be able to walk into a dealer and order a Camaro now and get it before someone who ordered early and has been waiting months. They keep saying they want us loyal customers to be happy but then they make 50 cars for Avis. Whatever.
And they tell us that all those cars sitting at the plant before 3/16 were CTF cars and now they are for sale (at least at one dealership in Texas)!
I would like to know that someone in GM has seen this poll and hear that they are really going to do something for us. They didn't even do an early order plaque on the dash like they did with the Pontiac G8. At least I think someone posted that the first ones had something special on them. It would have been nice to have an engraved plaque saying that this car was number of so many. At least something besides a xerox of a form letter and a print of a sketch.

5 months, 21 days since I ordered: 3300 for a week. Praying that mine is built and shipped next week.

End of Rant! Thanks for listening.

Hey guys I am on your side....I think it should have been first in first out. I was just saying how its going right now. I voted to get all the pre-orders out first. Now if they say right now that they want to load up the pre-orders nothing would happen until mid May because the weekly allocation report is already been distributed to that point. Then actual production would be mid June at best. Should the next months worth of allocations be dedicated to just the pre-orders. YES! Sorry if you mis understood what I was saying.

Good thing you made this a private poll... there'd be a lynch mob after 15 people.

Those 15 people would probably be 2 if it were a public pole. Only one of them had enough courage to post. I like people who are willing to stand up for what they believe in!

I voted Yes!!! I definitely think that people that ordered last year should get priority over lot cars and people ordering now. (It shouldn't matter how small their dealer is or how many Mustangs were sold in their area) I know big dealers around me who were charging $5K over sticker so they didn't get pre-orders so they could order all their alloted cars in to sell off the lot and make extra money. That is definitely not fair.
