Maybe you should have worked harder, invested more wisely and retired at 45 like the rest of us....or is that just me? Gotta go...tee time is at 10...

Damn! I missed that boat.

I'm 62 and still working, but I do like and sometimes love my work as a regulatory aircraft engineer. We've made our fortunes and will retire soon to travel and hunt (for me). But 45? You're my hero.

P.S. with that handle, you must be flying too.

On the Gen6 impressions from the OP, I would guess the "unstable" ride was some bad alignment, maybe front and back. I drove a Gen5 SS rental once before I bought my car. It was so far out of alignment it drove like a Yugo on crack.

I will obviously be rethinking my choices of automobiles as well as most of my life choices. Additionally I’ll be selling all the vehicles I presently own as I await your recommendations.

Thanks for the post and not starting any shit. You really helped alot of people that might have made a huge mistake.

(PS. I’ve been shopping for a new rotisserie cooker. I’d welcome any opinions you might have on that because I’m really stumped here...)
That was classic - almost made me spit out my drink!

Lol slug...I havnt heard that in a while. Had a 6th gen revving at me a lane over on saturday night. To much traffic to crack it so I returned the favour......long tubes with the Corsa Xtreme usually ends the battle pretty quick. Exchanged thumbs up and carried on. Still like my 5th gen better with that classic muscle car look.

Only when I want to.

It’s more like semi-semi retired, but all my time is my own. So you better get moving....

Honestly I can't think of anything else to say that's kind to the car... Im writing the following out to get some context for what may have happened to cause some of these incoming negatives.

The visibility was terrible, but everyone knows that. The auto transmission was so bad, it took a considerable amount of time to kick down to get on the power. Then the power... normally I drive a 170-180 Hp altima. Something making 455 HP should have me freaking out right? Are my expectations of acceleration too high? The ride wasn't exactly stable, the brakes were soft, the shifts when driving spirited (3-5K rpm) felt jerky and poorly timed. Am I just being too picky or have any of you guys been similarly disappointed with the Camaro? I had the opportunity to drive one of the turbo 4 Mustangs around an autocross track back in 2016 and it felt nothing like this experience, I was amazed by the difference of what it felt like to really drive a sports car rather than just a coupe of an economy car, and that had 150 less HP than the Camaro, and shouldn't have been better equipped in the brakes and tires department either considering the model differences.

So again, can someone tell me something good about this car, because I can't understand why anyone would choose it over the Mustang right now. I promise I'm not some Ford stan trying to start some shit on a car forum. Either that or join me in tearing it down eh?
While I have doubts, I'm going to give the OP the benefit of the doubt.

In bold from OP are some points.

1) Its a rental, it was filled w/ 87 and it may even be detuned just like a couple other folks have said. You weren't getting 455 hp.

2) Its a rental so the brakes are probably so-so from others romping it and having to immediately stop while driving. So it won't be an OEM feel.

3) A 4 cyl turbo used in an autocross was ensured it was mechanically ready w/ 93 octane. Your rental Chevy's maintenance involved a 5 minute oil change w/ chepo oil along with seats sucked by a dirty vacuum by a funky, sweaty worker.

4) What you're experiencing was torque. A turbo may feel spunky during regular driving, which it sounds like you did. But in a WOT comparison, the 4 cyl turbo will turn into a spec in the rear view very quickly.

5) I rented a Camaro ss back in 2013 for a day and, honestly, I had a similar experience, just not as bad. When I drove it regularly, it didn't feel any different than my V6. But when I placed it at 3/4 to full throttle, I became legitimately frightened. I'm talking real, primal fear of the acceleration.
I test drove a 2009 Pontiac G8 and I felt like "wait...is this it? What's the big woop"? Disappointed, the salesman told me to drive the Sonata and I liked it more.

Why? low end torque (below 2k RPM) on a lighter, newer car with newer brakes. I ended up buying neither.

Overall, I think the OP suffered from comparing low RPM torque along with high expectations on a rental that receives good enough maintenance. And no, I will not join you in tearing it down.

Add this thread to the one on Camaro6 about a guy upset he lost out to two stock 5th gens in his bonestock 6th gen at a carshow. It could cause total chaos.

I just read through that thread - ****ing hilarious! The 6th gens are nice cars but they don’t look nearly as cool as the retro-futuristic 5th gens - that’s why their sales are way down. Therefore it should come as no shock to anyone that a 5th gen would take a car show trophy over a 6th gen. Heck, even my 5th gen V6 vert would probably get more votes at a car show than that guy’s 6th gen V8
