Z28 Axle Nut Install

I have a 2011 SS and upgraded the Wheel Bearing Assembly and Axles to the Z28 parts. So, I figured I would order the Z28 Axle Nut (part number 11611234) as well. While installing it, I noticed that it’s definitely different than the SS part.

Do I need to somehow indent the nut where the grooves are on the axle after torquing it down? If so, how is this done?

Thanks!

After torqued to spec just take a punch and dimple the Metal into the groove, You can see above the threads of the nut there is a ring of flat metal.

Yeah they are Different, Mine only have the 1 spot, Not sure about the Z/28 but I believe I see 2 in the picture above. Now you have me thinking, I am installing Brake lines sometime this week, I will double check my SS Axles.

Thanks for posting this. I have had z/28 axles and wheel hubs for maybe two years. Took diff out a few weeks ago to have eaton locker installed. Ordered two new axle nuts for my SS, forgot I needed these nuts. I appreciate the post because I was just trying to look up part number for these

I just dimpled one, but the Z28 axles do have 2 slots on them. Luckily I haven’t put my wheels back on yet and will dimple the other slots before putting them on.

Was on vacation for a week so didn’t check in on these posts. Glad I looked before putting it all back together this week.
