Who has dominated the Pony Car Wars?

Since the introduction of the 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang, which company has dominated or controlled the Pony Car wars?

Ford?, Chevrolet? Mopar?

Pick your poison and respond as to why you have that certain opinion!

Let the fur fly!

I can agree with the sales but what about horsepower and fast cars over the years? I think Camaro...

As much as I love chevy and the Camaro the mustang has never ceased to be in production so it goes to them.

I think Ford is safely in the top position. Mustang never stopped production and they seemed more willing to do different things like supercharging the Terminator, the GT500 and building the BOSS 302. Eventually GM came around to it for the ZL1 and finally the Z/28.

This.

It may seem like I'm biased because of what I drive, but I'm also a big fan of the Challenger and Camaro. That being said, the Mustang has the uninterrupted track record, and the Camaro and Challenger owe their very existence to the success of the Mustang.

Also, the 2003 SVT Cobra is the car I lusted after in high school. Even today it holds up as one of the best buys for speed and easy mods.

Pontiac for bringing the concept of Muscle Car to existence in 1964 with the GTO. It overlaps the achievements of all other manufacturers in the "Pony Car Wars".

GTO WAS NOT a Pony car and that was the question, PONY car not MUSCLE car.

Mustang has this easy.

It is still the Mustang, 60s and most of the 70s it ruled with roost, in the 80s/early 90s the 5.0 cleaned the Camaros clock, even those late 80s/early 90s with the TPI 350, The 84-86 SVO was the first Pony car to put handling/balance as a priority and one of the first true turbo 4 cylinder performance cars, the 93 Cobra did it again and ushered in SVT, The Camaro had 93-95, but when the DOHC 4.6 hit the Cobra in 96 it took the reins again until 98 when the LS1 appeared. the Camaro/FIrebird had 98-2002 (though 99 and 01 Cobra were pretty daggone close. The 99 Cobras were also the first pony cars to bring IRS into the mix. Those Cobras at least the ones that the power that was advertised), Ford continued even without the Camaro with the ground breaking supercharged 03 Cobra, and then in 07 with the monstrous GT600. Camaro had 10, but Mustang quickly caught up and passed it for 2011. The Mustang is still ahead in the power wars, though the Camaro may be a more balanced package, the 661 HP GT500 is at least 81 HP dearer than anything in the Camaro Stable.......

1. Ford
2. Chevy
3. Dodge

If we're just talking powertrains though, easily GM. There's a reason why you see Fords with LS motors, but you never see a Chevy with a Mod Motor.

That is because SBC are cheap to purchase, plentiful and parts are cheap. how many cars have been stuffed with Ford 302s and big blocks? LOTS of British Sports cars carried Ford power fram the factory, not to mention the Monster Miatas, etc, etc. Arguably, if you are doing a swap and it will fit, the Ford 302 engine is nearly unbeatable for a swap project, given the same can be said of GM LS motors.

this if it wasn't for the Mustang there would be no Camaro, hell the Mustang birthed the Camaro twice now lol.

If you look at current offerings, it is hard to top the camaro line, SS, ZL1, Z/28, its an impressive lineup.

But overall since 64 I would have to say Mustang
