Help! Is my clutch on the way out?
For reference, stock '14 1LE. I have 60k miles on stock clutch and I separated the brake reservoir and clutch reservoir using the GTO reservoir.
Up until recently I hadn't had any issues with the clutch pedal sticking but the last couple days the pedal will NOT return unless I use my for to pull it back up. I also feel like the engagement point is a lot closer to the floor than it should be. I've tried changing the fluid, by sucking it out of the reservoir and putting fresh fluid in and pumping. Didn't help. Is the master / slave going bad? Is this that awful little plastic throw out bearing melting on me? EDIT: Added pics of old clutch

have you ever bled the lines, or just swapped fluid in the reservoir?

i would try bleeding it again once or twice to see if the pedal still sticks. mine sticks on occassion but if i bleed it fresh it's fine.
unrelated: i used to have the gto reservoir but noticed the pedal began sticking. when i went back to sharing the brake reservoir the pedal didn't stick nearly as often. something else to think about edit: for reference i have added a speed bleeder to my clutch hydraulic system. that and running DOT-4 fluid for the brakes/clutch are my only changes in that area. stock clutch, slave cylinder, master cylinder, and clutch line. just hit 70K miles

I installed the separate reservoir just to keep the fluid clean in the brake system.
I'll try to get my mechanic to bleed it tomorrow, I'm not sure I have the tools or ability to do it myself Could there be air in the system? Or is the fluid just terribly contaminated? How would I be able to tell if the slave/master is good or bad.

I had the exact same scenario as you... my throw out and support were shot. Replaced with an OEM throw out, monster billet support and spec stage 2 clutch with billet steel flywheel. Problem solved...

I did the job, by myself. In my garage with a floor jack, jack stands and basic tools. Takes time, but not that bad...

Assuming I'm in the same boat, but the clutch itself is still good - can I just replace the slave/bearing? I would likely throw the monster support on for peace of mind.
What did your clutch itself look like? I really don't like the idea of dropping $2k for a whole new setup right now

The clutch had plenty of meat left on it. The flywheel probably could have just been resurfaced. I just figured since its apart to replace it. The clutch was $430... well worth the money imo. It grabs and holds way better than the stock piece.

You haven't had any issues with the slave/throwout bearing since? Or does the monster billet support take care of that?
I keep seeing other people say that the stiffer aftermarket clutches are too much for it. How's the pedal feel? Much stiffer than stock?
