I believe these color combos will be the first of each trim level to be built. Why else would GM recommend them in their Official Ordering Workbook?
I surmised that those are the most popular color combinations among the public so dealers are recommended to get those for their lots. Drive by a big dealership and what do you see? Grays, blacks and a few reds. That's why I'm sticking with rally yellow.

Can't argue with that. If you're like me, you'll enjoy yellow. Personally though, after the last 4 years with a Yellow Jacket GTO, I'm just yellowed out...

interesting that it took ~ a month and a half to get from preferenced to delivered. I thought it was less than that but not surprising. So I guess the "preferenced"/accepted one is what John Fitzpatrick was referring to when he said they'd begin being accepted late January/Early Feb. 2 weeks later would be "broadcast" (Feb 16th for the first cars) and out the door a few weeks later.

That car was the second Sky for us. The first was setting on the showroom floor, which we bought in July 06, was a 2.4l and the one we ordered was a Redline. This was after production was going at full speed, Sky, Solstice, and Opel GT's were produced from the same line. Now you can just go to any Saturn dealer and get a Sky of your choice.

The person who got the event codes worked for a Pontiac dealer. Was quite an exciting time to see each week where your car was at in the production process. I am sure the Camaro will be similar also.

Good Luck to the people that have ordered their Camaro's. Hope someone will get their event codes so they can watch the progress

Nobody's code will change until at least the first consensus which, at last I knew, was tentatively scheduled for either Feb 19th or Feb 26th.edit-> apparently Feb 6th per chevylaunch.com That is the date the dealers will know what they can (or can't) order that will be made in March. A month later, they'll find out what they can order to be made in April, etc, etc,.. Don't let anyone (except Fbodfather and maybe CamaroScotty) tell you anything different. Each dealer will only know once a month what they can order for the following month- i.e. just because they can get 4 cars in April does NOT mean they can guarantee you that they get another 4 in May.

Cool. I like to be wrong in a direction that benefits us. I mistakenly took what CamaroScotty wrote in the post below to mean that was the date of consensus.

IDL Follow up: Gears / V8 Production / Orders
Here is some things I can share with you (from Chevy):

1. GEARS - Only the V8 with manual has 3.45, all other engine trans combo feature 3.27 ratio. (Confirmed)

2. PRODUCTION - I never said we were constraining V8's. I did say we were receiving a high number and may at some point have to visit a constraint, but never said we are constraining SS models. Who knows, we may have to constrain V6s to begin production. Only time will tell...

3. ORDERS - When will the first SOLD order be pulled for production? - Tough to say because there are many variables. What I can tell you is that we'll do a consensus in February for March production. After consensus, the allocation will be divided into weeks, and the first dealer order submission (DOSP) should take place by either Feb 19 or 26 -- but neither date is guaranteed.

Is the Consensus going to be posted ( "hopefully" ) so we will know what they plan on making in March?? I hope so...so I can make sure my dealer isn't asleep at the wheel.
I hope this info is available to us.

My opinion...
No, dealer only information. If the consensus is indeed Feb 6th, you should be able to call your dealer the next day and find out what Chevy is going to allow him to order for March- maybe V6, maybe V8, maybe both, any constraints (unavailability)-. It's then entirely his choice on how to fill the orders available to him. I keep telling people the most important thing is trusting your dealer. They DO NOT have to fill the orders in any way other than what they want. They can do something as bold (and stupid) as take their first orders and order all lot cars and not fill any pre-orders. It's their choice. Gotta trust 'em...

The consensus basically tells dealers what they can expect to order the coming month. That should give us a good idea of how the start of production will go. The people who are in the first part of their dealers allotment should have a good idea of when they'll get their car. The IDL broadcast (currently for sometime in March) should clean up any loose ends as far as info goes.
