Power Steering Pump Pulley

Well when I changed my timing chain cover gaskets, and my water pump gaskets (because the water pump was leaking), I had to take the PSP pulley off and what not.

During taking it off, it warped and now at an idle it wiggles a little bit. Its been fine but now its starting to squeal real bad and loud when I hit the gas. I sprayed it with WD-40 while holding the throttle a little and it went away for a split second so I know that this is the problem.

Autozone doesn't sell it, and advanced auto parts does not sell it. I was going to try car quest but I doubt they will have it either. I found one online for $25 free shipping but its for the 3.8l v6. Are they the same on the 3.8 and 3.4? Thanks.

Nah. I went to the junkyard and got one in mint condition. Does it need to be pressed on with a tool?

So my friend decides to tell me that he stripped the shaft taking the pulley off when he fixed my car, and he had to bang the pulley on (He didnt know it was a press on I think) and so now my shafts bent and stripped. I need a whole new power steering pump...... People suck.

Probably just as well cause if you ran the car any amount with the bent pulley, the bearings would have been the next thing to go anyway.

+1 I'd be telling your friend he needs to pony up some $$$ since he busted it.

the pumps should be the same between 3.8 and 3.4, but I can't be sure off hand.

but now, you'll need a new pulley as well.

I don't remember if the v6 pump is the same as the v8 pump on 4th gens. if it is, in the future, instead of pulling the pulley off, you could just unbolt the whole pump assy to save yourself some hassle

(this is a diagram of the LT1 style pump, again, not sure if its the same)

I know this is a weird question, but I am replacing my power steering lines and I heard that the pulley shouldn't have any play what so ever. if there is once it is fully on, is that a sign I should just replace the whole pump altogether?
