dispite a few inaccuracies it was, for the most part a pretty good read. compairing the challenger to the G8 isnt far off the mark. I cant wait to read the results of the actual production camaro vs mustang vs challenger. you know when they actually put the production camaro out there its gonna be everywhere.

With all the hype it seems like GM has put out, I think you're right. That's fine by me. I'd love to see that car everywhere.

A little dose of reality guys.

I have high hopes for the Camaro, and it will be fast, and it will be awesome, but......

A CHARGER SRT8 can and will pull 13.0-13.3 1/4 mile times with traps between 106mph- 108mph regularly. 0-60 times under 5 seconds are also common.

Saying a Charger SRT8 will only do 13.6 in the 1/4, or that 13.6 is the average for a Charger SRT8 is somking crack.

That said, the Camaro will still be faster.

Not that I don't share your optimism.. but has there been anything that pointed to the car being significantly lighter than its Zeta brethren?

I've followed the site but mainly for photos to this point. A reduced curb weight would certainly be welcomed as gas cracks $4 this year. Simply wondering if there have been hints I've not picked up on. Here's hoping GM was able to dump some of that Zeta lead during the Camaro's slumber that Holden hasn't.

Fbodfather said at one point that they've call Jenny Craig to help with the weight thing. I can't be bothered to find the post. Hey, that would make a good sig quote . . .

I think the Camaro could pull off a 3700lb weight, maybe even less.

Take a look at some of the pictures of the concept and production models of the Camaro compared to nearby cars. The Camaro is actually fairly small.

Somewhere there are pictures of the 5th gen concept next to the 4th gen, and they very similar in size. The 4th gen was what? 3400ish lbs?

I could be wrong, but I don't think IRS and maybe a few other things are going to add 300-400 more lbs.

I like it all! Finaly having something that might possibly give us a little insight into the whole what might it have is great. being that the Charger and Challanger are so much alike i think that the camaro being a lighter car in general will deffinatly have the upper hand! I need this to keep me going! great find man! keep searching!

Hmm, I guess he didn't say that then. People keep saying its been said, but I can't find the origin of the quote. Maybe someone read it on another forum

The source is in that thread I linked... here's an even more specific link (to within that thread) -- http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...5797#post15797

Doug Houlihan (Chief Engineer) mentioned Jenny Craig.

It says there that it was said . . . which is what I thought I was saying, but we don't have anyone actually saying it. That being said . . . I've just confused myself. But if that quote is as good as we're going to get, its good enough for me

They forgot to mention it's a much better looking car! I'll give the Challenger this; it has several small details that give the car a very classy look (I hope GM doesn't drop the ball there), but overall it just doesn't look like it's ready for a fight like the 5th gen is!
