Blown strut?

Anyone else have this happen? I removed my rims to get my Trofeo Rs installed and while I was cleaning the wheels, one was covered with grease on the inside. So that warranted some more exploration. Below is what I found. Anyone else have a strut do that? It came out of that bolt that looks like it has a honeycomb cover. Thoughts?

Everything was answered in the link a few posts down.

Had the exact same thing happen to my 14 Z/28 on the passenger front but never had it looked at yet. Maybe someone will chime in.. Not a fan of the local Chevrolet dealership but may have to chance it..

Struts tend to have oil, not grease. That looks more like grease that would have come out of a torn boot, like on a ball joint or tie rod end.

Yeah mine is a 14 and it is the passenger front as well. Mine is number 154. I wonder if it is a bad batch? I think mine happened after this last track day. Either way my Chevy dealer has been pretty good to me so I will see what they say.

Agree, but it oozed out of that bolt/nut head. Very strange, but it didn't come from a boot or anything.

There is another thread about this. Apparently it's grease that is inside the outer tub. It's supposed to be on the underside of the piston but sometimes it gets on the top and gets pushed out this vent. The instructions were clean it off but overall it's nothing to be worried about.

How do I find that thread? I would like to read up on it and if we push the grease out isn't there going to be a shortage of lubrication at some point.
