My wife is an ER nurse manager. My kids got a 4 banger 99 Grand Am for their first car to share, then we bought them a Toyota Yaris and Pontiac G5 (4 banger). My wife sees lot of kids who could "handle" a sports car and whats worse, the innocent family who happened to be on the same road.

My son has designs on my V6 Camaro when i upgrade to the Z28 in a couple of years. He will be 22 then, maybe he can talk me out of it and I will use his ricer equipped Yaris to drive to work

Stereotype: A simplified and standardized conception or image invested with special meaning and held in common by the members of a group.

Let's face it people, teenagers are idiots. If you are a teenager, and don't believe that, then you are dillusional...just like every adult when they were a teenager. Every adult that understands this concept, has this understanding because....guess what? they were an idiot. (some still are).

If you are a teenager, get straight A's, work 2 jobs, pay for all your stuff, and have a great appreciation for all the blessings in your life, congratulations, you're NOT the rule. If you were the rule, then we would all be sitting around wondering how could this tragedy happen? There must have been a malfunction of some sort. Instead we are all wondering how this didn't happen sooner.

Here's the deal, I think there are 2 types of people: "What can go wrong" types and "Nothing could possibly go wrong" types. Teenagers have a propensity for the latter. its the natural order of things. Im glad he is OK, but he made some judgement errors.

Straight A's..And my thoughts on judging your child on grades.. I see an awful lot of parents saying "not my child", "He is a straight A student."

So was Ted Bundy (I know thats the extreme .. just saying). I have also known a few Straight A.. Strippers, Drug Dealers, hell there are some very well noted politicians that graduated from the most prestigious Universities in the land that are pathological liars... While a 4.0 is fantastic, it is not a foundation for a judge of character.

Get straight A's in a public school is nothing to brag about.
