I have heard of a few people using the trick flow 255 heads. I also have heard of some excellent results from the stock ZL1 heads after porting flowing like 365 cfm intake @ 650 lift and 252 cfm exhaust.

TFS 255 sent out to get ported by "Frankenstein"
Ported LS9 heads are also a good bang for the buck if you don't feel like spending 4K on heads

What are you expecting to be flowing intake and exhaust at what lift?

Mast or TFS sent out to be ported by Frankenstein would be 4K or around there

Personally I ported my stocks and matched them to the blower runners after I ported those as well. IMO with the stock LSA block I don't think it's worth upgrading the heads to some big flowing ones. 3k for 30-50whp don't seem logical to me.. have a motor with 416+ cubes and a power adder that will flow plenty of air then it would be well worth the afermarket heads

Chevy left room on the table for a lot of power to be gotten from the stock LSA heads. Livernois ported my stock LSA heads and they are flowing just over 360 cfm at .650 lift on the intake side.

An often overlooked benefit of an aftermarket casting like the TFS is the thicker deck and valve angle is changed from 15 degrees to 12 degrees. The latter allows for more timing at WOT which these motors respond very well to for added hp. Also an unintended benefit is how the they change the exhaust tone for the better imo.

You are correct, imo if I was going to go with any after market heads at this time it would be the trick flow 255, Mast or AFR. Not necessarily in that order. I saw on the CTS-V forum that the trick flow Gen 255 flowed 395 CFM after porting, I do not know at what lift, but that translate to a big horsepower gain.
