So I'm wanting to get the illuminated LED bow tie from AAC.. PROBLEM.... I'll have to cut a hole in my trunk in order for this to work since I have a 2011. If you were me.. Would you proceed in cutting a hole in the trunk lid OR not get the led bowtie?

I'd drill if its a hole only for the wires and not mounting hardware. All you would need is a 1/4" hole or smaller.

Buy an early 2010 truck lid that has the holes already

i say don't. i was gonna do that for my flag emblems on the side of my car and when i went to a body shop it was recommended not to. you'll have to put something there to protect from corrosion. it'll get costly. if you can, cut the posts off and grind them down flat with a dremel. then use 3m side molding tape to install. not sure how that'll work with the wires and stuff though.

Yes, yes, yes,...drill some holes. The car will rust earlier making mine more valuable because it is a specially ordered Camaro.

Yes the sarcasm is purely intentional!

I have seen the light up bowtie installed and it does not look that great in the daytime.

I wouldn't. I think that, to TaylorRyanSS's point, the bowtie looks tacky in the daytime.

It looks cool at night but it looks funky in the daytime. It sticks out far.

if u want it on there then do it. as long as there is a bowtie there then it will never be seen. as for the corrosion resistance just put some RTV sealant around the hole and when you press the bowtie agains the lid it will seal it from water.
