Getting ready for winter and snow

Just put new Pirelli Scorpion snow tires on my 2015 2SS coupe, thinks of putting 2 60 lb tubes of sand in the trunk. Where would you place them? Would you do it? I live in Denver, been driving for nearly 40 years but this will be my first winter in a Camaro ( convertible Camaro is garaged for the winter) so my coupe is my winter vehicle. Appreciate your thoughts

Home Depot should have them out shortly, getting my Snows/Rims delivered soon for my 2014 1LT. General Altimax Artics off of a totaled Camaro. Saving Money!!!

Stupid question. What's the purpose of the sand? I'm in jersey and winters can get pretty bad here too any tip is a valid tip.

Put more weight over the rear wheels for added traction.

Sand is for weight in the in the rear because it's RWD, just for additional traction

Probably could use the added weight in the rear of the car but I didn't have any troubles last year with my car in the snow. Just take it slow and easy and you'll make it. Also avoid everyone else on the road.

I was told that this could damage the car. Is there any truth to that?

How? You never put your wife's luggage in the trunk for a trip? My wife's luggage easily fills it up and weighs a couple of hundred pounds, lol.

kitty litter, dog food, salt, etc and no issues ever. hell I had 2 grown adults in the back seats (don't ask me how) and car is fine, you are not putting 1000lbs in the trunk just a couple hundred at max.

From everything I've heard, these 5th Gens are very good in the snow with proper tires. I doubt you will have any problems without the extra sand for weight.

I mounted some scorpions on my RS 20s also. Looking forward to seeing how they do in the snow.

Warning: they have garbage dry weather traction, but thats not why you bought them right?!

Extra weight - good. Having sand to throw on the highway under the tires for even better traction - priceless!
