So Long and Thanks for all the Tips!
I expected to be buried in a ZL1 but then I test drove a 2017 Corvette Grand Sport Z07 and now I'll be switching over to the Corvette forums, I hope they're as friendly and helpful as you all have been.
I didn't buy the Z07 pack, I didn't want to pay 6k for the CF Brakes, but I will be buying the Michelin Sport Cup 2s prior to my next track day. Only difference I could see with the Z07 package was the CF Brakes, Cup2 tires and spoiler extension (which I wasn't into). I got a loaded 2LT which is the minimum needed to get the HUD. Now apparently HUD is not an option for 1LT?? Sux. I also got the A8 instead of the M7. After having been an MT guy for 20 years I have to say the automatic isn't my favorite part, but the paddle shifters do allow me to choose the gear I want to be in and thats enough. I made the switch to A8 only because I've spent a lot of time in traffic lately and I welcome the missing pedal during some stop-go on the hills in San Francisco. They call the color Sterling Blue Silver and this picture doesn't do it justice. There's nothing "Rental Car Gray" about it, its beautiful. This car has all the suspension, chassis stiffness, Aero, widebody and everything of the Z06 minus the supercharger headaches. It (the GS Z07 I test drove) feels faster than my stock ZL1 in every way and about equal straight line acceleration with my modified & lightened ZL1 @ about 530rwhp. Even with the non Cup2 tires this car grips like nobody's business, claimed lateral 1.2g. I can't wait to get through break-in and tear up these tires so I can get some new Cup2s. To anyone considering similar transition, I highly recommend it! Here's the love of my life (and the car).

The Grand Sports are sick! Just like you said, they are a Z06 w/o the supercharger. Awesome machine and you stuck with GM. Congrats!

Congrats.
I really love these GS C7 Vetts. They look awesome. I always said the only way I'm getting rid of my ZL1 is to trade up to a C7 Z06 but these Grand Sport versions appear to be the best bang for your buck Vetts out there. Kinda like how the 1LE Camaros are a great value track car. I'm not sure how active the C7 forums are...they seem deader than a door knob to me. lol Congrats again and come back and give us some feedback once you burn off a set or two of tires.

Fixed it for you!!
I kid I kid Gorgeous car, you definitely make a good case for these top notch engineered Vettes. Let us know further down the road after a few months of ordering it, pros/cons and things you miss about the Z and things that are better about the Vette. |
