Anyways, we've got pictures of what we assume to be the "HP Edition" testing along side of a Mustang GT500 equipped with the SVT performance package. Chevy always aims to surpass their closest competitors...so that's where my head's at... |

its says here it is.
Built for Shelby by Unique Performance, the G.T.500E Super Snake is the most powerful regular production Shelby (based on a Ford Mustang) ever offered to the public. Each car features a 525 HP aluminum Shelby 427 engine, Unique Performance rear suspension, Tremec transmission and many modern performance upgrades, as well as special badges and striping. With an optional supercharger, this Shelby churns out an earth shaking 725 horsepower. |

We think Chevy is building the "HP Camaro" to compete against the 'regular' Mustang GT500, which is a Ford. The Super Snake is not a Ford, and so it doesn't make sense as a target.

Thats pretty much hitting the nail on the head. Regular off the assembly line production Ford GT500's are sent to Shelby American, Carol Shelby's company, for the upgrade to Super Snake, much like the way Chevy used SLP.

Correct me if I am wrong but that would mean the GT 500 isn't a production car ... At least not in the same regard as the Camaro

Thanks for the info guys.... I stand corrected...... so basically the Z would be the competition for the GT 500.
