Which do you guys use: Floor Jack or Ramps?

So, I'm going to change the oil in my car within the next 2 months or so, and I need a way of accessing the oil drain plugs and everything obviously. Do you guys use floor jacks to lift the car or do you guys use ramps? I was thinking about going with ramps, as they seem a bit easier, but they get a bit pricey.

I appreciate all input,

Thanks!

I assume you mean jackstands and 6ton units work well.

Ramps would be more convenient sometimes, but jackstands are much more versatile.

Never get under a car just supported by a floor jack. Seals blow and even with a slow leak you can find yourself trapped if you're under there too long.

Ramps have an angle- of- approach- issue with these low vehicles. It can be done, but you'll need to place 2X4s or blocks of some sort in front of the ramps to keep from ripping up your chin spoiler/ splitter.

Floor jack is generally easier... but don't forget your jack stands. Many years ago, I thought them unnecessary, and performed a brake job on my Cutlass, sitting with my legs under the car (hey, I was a careless youth)... I trusted the jack. At one point, I stood up (did not even touch the car in doing so), stepped back, and, "BAM!" The jack spontaneously failed, and dropped the car to the ground. I missed having a double leg- ectomy performed by a few seconds.

Pardon the lecture, I just feel the obligation to preach it when I can.

I use ramps for oil changes and such. I use a floor jack and jack stands for rotating tires.

I have ramps that I use for my truck and work trucks and family cars I do but the Camaro wont make it as the ramps are to steep and the front will hit first. So I jack up one side and put tires on the top of the ramp repeat on the other side now my ramps are under it like normal and I can move the jack out and wheel around on my creeper. Then just reverse the process to get them out jack up remove ramp lower it to the floor. Safe and easy. I would buy race ramps with the right sloop if it were daily driver. I only have to do it once year.

I'm lowered in front and have a splitter. Just buy the right ramps and you don't need to mess with blocks. I have the long Race Ramps that I used for my trailer. Since I have a custom belly pan, jacks don't work for me. I like to place the jack on a frame rail and not the underbody. Race Ramps are pricey though, believe mine were over $250 discounted.
