How to remove MAP sensor on a LS3 with a Whipple
Researched the forums and find different suggested locations. I need to change it as part of a new tune on my 2010 SS LS3 and Whipple.
I know it is on the back of the S/C, but good Lord how do you get to it? I can't even get a tiny mirror back there to look for it. I can get my hand back there from the Passenger Side, as I was able to install a Boost Gage that I tee'd into the Whipple Vacuum Nipple. So I am assuming the MAP must be in that neighborhood? I do not want to take the Bower apart obviously. Driver Side, Passenger Side, bolt size? Anyone who has conquered this I would appreciate your input! |

The MAP is bolted to the back of the lower intake manifold, pretty much in the center. On mine, the MAP is secured with a socket head cap screw, requiring a 5/32 or 1/8" allen key, pic attached for reference.
I have not tried replacing it with the blower installed, so I can't provide any insight on that endeavor... |

One of the best tools I bought last year was a $100 borescope off Amazon. I was able to use it for what I bought it for the same week it arrived and it has come in very handy over half a dozen times since.

Some advice - do not rock or pry it out, you will only easily brake the nipple off as I did. Clear out as much "stuff in the way" such as fuel lines in the rear, harness's, etc. Try to pull it straight out, it probably will not budge cause you have no leverage.
I had to pull the Blower off anyway since I am changing injectors, but that is a big job. There it sat, a little chunk of nipple and "O" ring just mocking me, and at that point it is absurdly easy to pop out. |
