Clutch replacement time

Well, the stock clutch has finally decided to check out on me....I can't be mad though. It has lasted for 81K miles, 69K of which has been at 600+whp, and of those 69K, 15K have probably been at 750whp+.

From my research, I'm looking at either a Mantic or an XClutch. Spec-wise, the XClutch offers more torque capacity than the Mantic for the same configuration (twin ceramic, etc.)

Here are the relative links to each:

Mantic Twin

XCLutch Twin (XKGM23639-2E)

Anybody got any insights on either of these products?

Thanks Camaro Fam,
-Scott

I had a Mantic a few years ago and it went bad after about 5k. The issue was the spline hub warped on the clutches which caused the clutches to wobble a little (.028 on one disk and .031 on other) This ended up making it so the clutch would drag and not fully release.

The customer service was not good. It was out of warranty and they would not quote a price for two new disks only.

I have a spec 3+ in now and it drives like a stock clutch. This is on 610rwhp.

Let's take a moment to praise how capable and dependable that stock clutch was for you!

I am going with a Mcleod RST, Tick upgraded slave cylinder, and Tick adjustable master cylinder. Hoping to get some more strength while still maintaining that stock pedal feel.

What put the stock clutch out of its misery? Did you do a hard clutch dump? Burnout? Or its just slipping after years of abuse and its time to change?

You know, it hasn't failed yet. As long as I drive it normally, it still holds just fine in all 6 gears. However, when I give it the sauce, it just won't hold the power in 4th gear anymore.

For the record, the stock clutch has lasted as long as it has because it has never experienced a clutch dump. I always wait until it's fully engaged before dropping the hammer.

The pricing of the McLeod is way more attractive than some of the other offerings. I'm going to have to do a little more research.

I went with the RST on the advice of my tuner. Stock clutch had 80K but wouldn,t hold the boost HP .. It,s been about 3k miles I,m very plased smooth. No chatter.

I'm going go to go with a Monster triple disc when I decide to upgrade mine. Gives me plenty of ceiling.

UPDATE: Just so happens that a buddy of mine has a Mantic twin, new in the box, that he is going to make me a deal on, so that is the route that I am going. The Mantic is rated for 1020ft-lbs at the flywheel or 850ft-lbs at the wheels. I don't know where I'm sitting at currently, but the way I drive, I think I'll be just fine with the Mantic. Only thing I have to source is the hydraulic release bearing.

I bought a Mantic double on here and it would frequently make a noise when shifting into second at part throttle, but always held all I gave it. While I had the engine out a few years back, I sent it to Mantic US and they upgraded it to a triple for less than half the cost of a triple including the different CSC and spacer. I have been extremely happy with it, but the ceramic pucks do make it harder to slip at the line.

Thanks for the feedback! Since this isn't a track car, I'm not to worried about being able to slip it. Good to know that it holds all the power that you threw at it.

Update - After exchanging a few emails with Mantic, I have decided not to go with the twin disc setup that my buddy has, and instead ordered the XClutch Solid Organic Triple disc setup. It'll be a few weeks before it gets here since it is coming from Australia, and then it'll be a few more weeks before I can get around to installing it.
