Camaro accident?

looking at the front and read or the camaro i have to say... this car will not be cheap to fix... i small front end collision and you will have to get a whole new front clip... probably under body plastics, as well as rad supports ac condenser supports. everything is tucked under that small 4 inch wide threshhold between the grill and the intake... so even a small accident probably wont be cheap... and look at the rear... 3 big pieces... a overhanging trunk, a rear centre and a rear under diffuser... 3 big and probably expensive pieces probably around 1000 bucks each... if not more... and where there is uasually space between the front clip and the front end typically... there is no space at all...

accidents will be expensive

Yeah you make some good points, but that is another thing like the C-pillar that I guess for cosmetic reasons GM decided it was worth it - and I agree! Other than that I dunno what to say other than know your car and drive safe!

look at that no space... one accident of like 20 and its game over..l look how close that hood clip is to the front... this car was not designed to take an accident

there is no gap in there at all

Don't hit anybody. Most cars nowadays are expensive to fix. It's not really designed to be an easy repair. We haven't had those since bumpers were a piece of metal attached to the front and rear of a car.

Yeah I definately agree with you that there is little/no room for error with respect to a frontal collision, I was just speculating on possible reasons for this. The only reason this concerns me a little is that insurance rates may go up a little for this?

I thought that you did not have to pay if it was completely the other person's fault, so the only thing you would have to do is live without a car for a bit while it gets repaired?

According to the Camaro team this car got a 5 star/5 star rating...but maybe that's just for passenger survivability.

Captain, surprisingly enough, power steering pumps tend to operate more efficiently when they are able to be driven by the accessory serpentine belt that is normally found on the front of MOST car engines. Maybe you would like YOUR new Camaro to have a transverse mounted engine so the power steering pump will be protected by the right wheel assembly and also be fuel efficient as a front wheel drive vehicle. Oh no, wait, that would also mean that the power steering pump is STILL located on the front of the engine in a precarious location.

The only solution that I can see to prevent ANY damage to the front and rear of our new beloved Camaros is to drill the front and rear bumpers and install the GM Accessory Chrome Horn otherwise referred to as a 4" steel plate.

And FYI, I don't know if you were at Indy this past weekend, but we did learn that the car has received a 5 Star/5 Star rating. I think that's pretty good.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for all Camaro drivers! Also Bumble Bee I thought it was interesting to look at your sig, and more specifically at the front bumpers of the two cars. Yeah the 2010 looks much less protected. And on the crash test rating, I had always assumed that was for occupant survivability/safety but could be wrong.

not saying it wont be safe im saying the repairs wont be cheap... also iv changed many cars t run power steering pumps electrically... my audi steering pump is nowhere near the front...

no doubt it will be safe... but safety comes at a price... a high price of bodywork...
i mean... this car's front end will crumple.... which is safe... but not cheap
