Word. Op may not be paying enough on insurance to get payed off, but at least he is legal. You absolutely CAN blame the other driver for having no INS. He did not deserve to be on the road. I'm sensitive to this subject because where I live 1 in 3 don't have insurance. This is mostly due to a certain demographic of immigrants from the south. Several ppl close to me have been hit by no insurance and i just wanna say good luck. It sucks.

Hate to hear about your misfortune and hope you are able to get something out of the guy.

I have to say though that if you can't afford premium insurance on your 2002, you will be very hard pressed to afford it on a 2011 convertible. I may be out of line but it sounds like you are very young and insurance for young people is extremely high, especially for new, convertible sports cars.

Tell me about it... My dad had some idiot run a red light way after it turned red and crashed into my dads car taking the whole front part of his car off...the insurance the guy had was practically no help since we ended up paying for our rental and everything...he didn't even speak English...

This is a common problem around here. There is a large population of immigrants, some legal but many are not, that work in the mushroom farms for next to nothing. They pool their money to buy a old car, have no insurance, and quite often don't even change the registration. When in an accident it's fairly common to see them run off on foot with no record of who they are. If caught, they have no assets so you're stuck. That's part of the reason Uninsured Motorists coverage is mandatory here and it adds alot to your premium.

it's up to you to get your benefits from your own insurance and then your insurance screws the other insurance to get their money back.

Maybe his parents bought it and he's paying them back? My folks did that for my brother back in the day.

sounds like you should be blaming the farms/businesses that hire these people. im sure they wouldn't live in the area if they could not get jobs.

I can't imagine IL not requiring you to carry uninsured motorist coverage, check your policy, and what kind of insurance company would not strongly encourage you to carry collision coverage on a 2010 Camaro.

ya my parents bought me the car on my 16th birthday as a gift, however i felt bad taking a free car considering my parents do alot for me. So the next day i got a job and started paying them back, im not sure if they realize it yet, but ive been putting money in my parents money jars for their new cars as well. once i pay the car off ill tell them that i just put the money i owe them into their jar for their new cars. The one thing that pissed me off about the whole situation, is after the cops left and everything, the guy had the nerve to drive up to me and say to me in complete english, nice car bro. WTF!!!!! are you serious, and he drove off with his wife. so im gonna take him to court obviously and sue him big time. and for the people who arent reading the beginning, i have a 2002 Camaro Convertible, and Yes I am paying my parents back for the car and yes i only have liability insurance.

You sound like a good kid.

For the next car you get, do what it takes to get FULL coverage insurance. And up your coverage limits. Yeah, you're gonna pay for it, but when things like this happen (and as you know, they DO happen), you will breathe a huge sigh of relief.

Join the military and get insurance with USAA. Two of the best things i've ever done.

Best of luck.
