Underpowered?
OK so I admit I'm a complete newb to V8 sports cars (pony cars whatever) I had the 2014 2LT which I thought was a ton of fun. Wanted more power though. I was completely unprepared for the 1LE. It makes my palms sweat and my heart race. I love it. Been reading through the forums though and so many here think it's underpowered. Do you guys track these cars all the time or are you just used to high HP cars? I mean I'm sure at some point I'll get used to it and the adrenaline rush will wear off right? Is that what happened to you guys?

What ever you do , do not drive a ZL1 or you will be looking to trade the 1LE.

You will get used to it. I think the stock ZL1 is slow, at first it seemed like a rocketship, later it felt like it was dragging around a ships anchor. That is mainly because the weight and chassis take the drama out of the speed, it is highly deceptive until you notice cars around you just fade into the distance.

I just drive my Ridgeline for a couple days... then that 1LE rush is back for a month.

Pound for pound, there is nothing at the current price point that stands up to the 1LE. Forget my own bias, look at the track times on Car and Driver for the 1LE vs everything from the Mustang/Challenger lineups in comparable price points. I am just like you, went from a '12 RS to a '13 1LE, so at first, it shot my eyes out of my skull. You get used to it after a while and you just want more. I can't say it feels underpowered, but a bit more power wouldn't hurt anything.

I think it may be the weight and size of the car. I'm no stranger to horsepower and speed, but on a motorcycle. That 1LE corners way harder and way faster than my bike. I doubt I'm pushing it to it's limits too. It's thrilling. Something about throwing 2 tons of steel at a 25mph corner doing 70.

It is at least 50 rwhp underpowered , even after the bolt on's and tune. At 4000 lbs it needs more power. The LS7 engine would have been the perfect solution for the 1LE . But then GM wouldn't have been able to charge $40000.00 more for the Z28 if they did . I have never driven a 5th gen Z28 , but I'm sure that is the Camaro to have.

You'll get used to it with time.
IMO, my 1LE still feels slow and heavy even after full bolt-ons. The handling characteristics, however, are amazing. |

Stock 1LE is slow as hell to me. I really wish they had given it a small power bump the way Ford gave the Boss a power bump. Have driven a couple ZL1s and they didn't feel fast either.
