Here is a list of speed vs RPM per gear (ratios)

Since there have been some recent posts about installing different gears, I thought you all might like to know what the impact is to speed vs RPM. These calculations all assume that 20" wheels are being used.

Good info. Did you get it from the computer or use a calculator? The Auto only revs to 6000 RPMs. Maybe the ones that people mod rev higher.

4.10's are BARELY adequate. I wouldn't really call it a performance gear when mated to that transmission/rear tire height.

Thanks for the info, ive been going back and forth between 3.73 and 4.10 but after reading the charts I think the 3.90 is the best way to go. Does anyone know if they make them yet??

My dad wrote a little calculator in excel - you plug in the tire size, rear axle ratio, and each transmission gear, and then it computes the wheel radius and then dumps out the speed per rpm

You might double check your calculations. Re V6 auto; It seems to me, from what I recall when I last checked, that at 2000RPM in 6th gear the MPH is 72 not 78.

This is getting the info real time not calculated.

I just ran the calculation and it does come out 77.897. I guess I will have to check again to see if my torque converter is locking up or not.

The Autos have 3.27, the Manuals have 3.45 ratios.

That's neat ! Cool ! If you download the demo of EFI live and a stock camaro tune, you will similar charts like this in the program, but your charts give a good look at it.

If I read those tables right, the stock auto 6-speed/3.27 actually has shorter lower gearing than the manual/3.45?! The 6 speed runs 1st gear out over 50 MPH, that's tall!
