Do NOT open hood w/wipers up
I always wash my car with the wipers proped up off the winshield. Well... that's swell... until, I deceided to dry under the hood. Scratch... Inch long scratch on the back side of the hood... broke out the touch-up paint.

Damn! I almost did the exact same thing last night. Washed my car, popped the hood and right before I lifted it up I noticed my wipers were still up.
Sorry to hear about your car.... just glad I looked up or I would have been in the same boat as you my friend. |

I was just waxing mine and propped up the wipers and thought, wow that's kind a close to the hood, I wonder what happens if I open the hood. I didn't, but now I know the answer. Sorry for your misfortune.

I did that once too but don't think I got a scratch from it. I'll have to check later today when I do my weekly wash.
