Best way to remove hood?

Should I take the hood from the hinges? Or, take the hinges from the body? Just looking for the best way to be able to line the hood back up easily. Thanks

I've never taken the hood off my Camaro, but every other vehicle I take the hood off the hinges.

+1 to hood off the hinges, some witness marks might help when starting to realign everything.

One trick some car builders do that will insure the hood gets put back with the same alignment as before is to drill a single hole thru the hood and hinge (usually a 1/8" hole) on each side, then go ahead and unbolt the hood from the hinges.

When it comes time to reattach the hood, line it up and bolt it loosely, then take the same drill bit you used to drill the small holes, and insert it right back in the hole that you drill thru both the hood and the hinge. It will act as an alignment pin. Repeat for both sides of the hood and it should line up perfectly,

I've removed my hood twice, removing the hood from the hinges is 100% the way to go.

I just removed it from the hinges. I tried to tape around the hinge to mark it. We will see...
