I know in Kentucky there are signs everywhere that say Keep Right Except to Pass. Rarely does it ever become a problem except when you get caught behind a semi doing 65 mph in the right lane, and a semi in the left lane doing 65.1 mph.

It won't be effectively enforced.
I'm of the belief and I am now teaching my son that there is ONE reason to be in the hammer lane. PASSING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Obviously, as the article states, a left turn, exit, etc..... but that's not what drives us all crazy. If I'm going 350 mph and you're going 340 mph, get the F*** over. (enhanced for dramatic effect) Sure, maybe I am traveling 10 over the speed limit, but you still need to get the hell out of the way. And this is why this law will be ineffective. |

Just push them out of your way by hitting their back-end left side of their car. there is nothing like a good spin out to transfer an important message

I'll never understand why slow drivers get on the freeway and immediately bolt to the left lane. What is that about?
I've made the decision to move to Kansas. Left lane cruisers irk me like nothing else.

I like the way the law sounds but how can the cops enforce it unless you get in there way! It's not like if they are running radar and catch you. I wish they had this law in Tennessee and if they already do then they definatly don't enforce it here! Cause every time I get on any 4 lane highway or interstate here we always have some Idiot who has to go right at speed limit in left lane or descides to go the exact speed of the car in right lane! Especially when your running late to work!

I completely understand staying out of the right lane, because in California you have to deal with people merging on the highway, which can be a little dangerous. But there's no reason to hog the left lane. Our damn highways are four and five lanes across sometimes. What's so damn bad about the middle two or three lanes?? |

Exactly. Even on a 4 lane highway, every lane has a specific role. The far right lane is for merging on and off, so you should only be there if you're doing that because there will be a lot of slow moving traffic merging into you otherwise. The next lane over is for truckers, and that should just be passed through by cars because semis need all the space they can get. Cars just shouldn't mingle between them. The next lane to the left of that is for cars cruising. Simple - get there, and go at the speed you'd like. If drivers behind you want to go faster, they can go to the next lane to pass. If you want to pass another car, the left lane should be open for you to pass as well. They you just get back over to the right. Pass with authority (you know, actually accelerate past them) and get it over with. I don't see how this system is too complicated to understand.

Sure, the West half is high plains and somewhat flat, but the central and East are mostly hills. Anyway, this is a great law - just a shame it was even needed as I always thought it to be common sense to keep right except to pass... |

I like this too but it's assuming ppl use their mirrors, which no one does, least of all left-lane hoggers...
