Not to hijack a thread, but for reference our titanium lug nuts save a hair over 2lbs compared to the factory lug nuts.

Edit DLC may work, depends on interfacial adhesion, might work better on steel, but DLC can act a a release layer so coating lugs might work, you’ll have take pictures after time to see how well it’s working would be to coat the steel rotar hole and the lug you screw into it. Best practices? You have to allow marching considerations when using the coating lest you have an interference fit.
