Got my new Yellow trim kit installed tonight. If you hadn't heard, GM revised these panels due to peeling paint on the earlier versions. I'm guessing that they're now putting on a thinner coat of paint because the ambient lighting shows through more than with the stock silver panels. Instead of a sharp crisp line of light, you get a wider glow. In fact the whole panel glows a bit. The first picture is a long exposure; it's not that bright in real life but you can see the whole panel does glow. I wish my whole dash was this color though!!

Same effect with the white panels...

It has the same effect on SGM. The paint is as thick or thicker, but it not as opaque as grey.

When was this revision done?

The yellow kit I installed a couple months ago doesn't do this.

I believe the new ones became available 8-22-11.
