No longer blinded by the light!

I might be the only one, but those chrome pieces on the dash hump could sometimes blind the hell out of me when the sun hit them. I had enough today and decided to yank them off and see what could be done. They are a weird shape with lots of odd angles so vinyl was out, but I didn't want to go permanent until I knew I would like the look. So I used some plasti-dip and reinstalled.

Personally, I not only like how they look, I REALLY like not being randomly blinded while driving. I'm going to leave them as is for at least a few days, make sure I really like it, then I'll redo them with real paint, probably a satin finish.

They come out pretty easy, I should have taken a few pics while they were out, but I didn't think of it.

Yeah, just a bunch of plastic tabs holding them in. I got the first one off by just grabbing and wiggling. The top two ends have a little guide piece of plastic, so as long as you don't try to pry sideways, they should pop right off.

I didn't think I was going to like it either, but I was desperate. Tons of sun here lately and I was getting blinded quite regularly. Looks even better when the interior lighting matches.

That really looks good, did mine in carbon fiber along with all the crome. When I get the car back going to try to wrap the gear shift in carbon. Well I say me but a friend is doing all the work I just help. Lol

I do not have the patience for trying to wrap technical stuff. I get frustrated and throw shit. So I dont even try anymore. Got the tread rocker stripe in today, I had to lock myself in the office while my husband put them on so I wouldn't hover and be a total PITA. Came out pretty nice though. Didn't get done til the end of the day. Will take better pics outside tomorrow.

Popped them back off to take pics, but since I'm on my ipad can only put one per post.

This is dash after removal.

Here's what the piece looks like out. I circled where there's a little plastic guide piece. Can't see it in the pic, it's pretty small but if it gets broken the top part of the trim will probably stick out sideways a little after putting it back on.

Its not chromed, its a brushed finish to begin with. If you want to paint em, go ahead. But please, being blinded? I think that's stretching things a bit unless someone has really sensitive eyes to begin with.

That said, this doesnt look that bad at all.
