Stupid question....threads for strut tower brace

Stupid question. I bought a GM strut tower brace and my local shop managed to lose the hardware/bolts.

Can I just buy some replacement bolts at a local hardware store or should I try to locate some that are part of a GM part kit?

Bolts are bolts, provided you get the same size, grade and thread pitch. Look at it as an opportunity to get better quality for less.

Anyone have a guess as to the pitch, etc? I guess that was my question.

Or should I have the holes re-tapped?

Bolts at the hardware are pretty cheap.....buy a couple with different thread abd see what works. Good old fashioned American R&D.

Or for a couple of bucks get a thread pitch gauge and now you have the tool that will tell you.

I think they're M8x35. Stainless wasn't cheap at about $17.
